Wow - I  just came accross this 2008 post. This was when we first started playing with hho kits.
HHO2u has come a very long way since then. We are now leading the way in the hho kit industry with our HHO Dry Cells. Although Ozzie and the water4gas gadget did set the wheels in motion for many hho experimentors the Glass Jars were outdated shortly after inception.

Incorrectly installing or incorrectly using Waterfuel technology may result in serious damage or body injury. Read and follow the instructions and safety precautions given here and in relevant places throughout our E- book to avoid these hazards. If you do not understand these instructions or do not like working on vehicles, have your mechanic do the installation.

It should take 20 to 30 minutes to install.Work outside, no smoking; make sure the engine is not hot.Wear goggles and gloves and only use professional tools; use common sense and general safety procedures used for automotive installations and maintenance. If you're not sure, ASK!

Yes, HHO is combustible – AFTER IT ENTERS THE ENGINE – that's the whole point. Yet your Water4Gas system does NOT store hydrogen when installed properly, so there is no fire hazard due to hydrogen storage. So again, don't let people who don't understand the system intimidate you or tell you about non-existent hazards. Waterfuel technology cools down the engine and adds safety to any car.

HHO Generator Installation
Mount the HHO Water fuel device in the engine compartment. It should be mounted flat and level, and secured is such a manner as to assure that it cannot bounce around when the vehicle hits bumps etc.

Position the device so that it can easily be accessed and can be conveniently removed and filled with water, or cleaned, serviced or inspected.

IMPORTANT: INSTALL THE DEVICE AWAY FROM HOT AREAS as much as possible. If you're not sure where that is, Harbor Freight Tools has a digital non-contact thermometer for under $7 (item 93983-2VGA). Use this tool to locate the coolest available place in the engine area.

I cannot give you an exact number here for what is “too hot”, because there is a combination of heating factors here: weather, engine, and the electrolysis process itself. All I can tell you that in two cases the electrolyzer mostly melted and only the glass survived. In both cases this occurred as a result of

(1) too much heat radiated by the engine through the air to the electrolyzer, and

(2) too much electrolyte in the HHO generator. There is a situation called Thermal Runaway, where an increase in temperature changes the conditions (in this case the rise in electrical current) that causes a further increase in temperature - leading to a destructive result.

You can prevent this from happening by: 1. Use ONLY DISTILLED WATER. Filtered water are NOT distilled water!

2. Starting with no more than 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda, and add gradually only when you're sure no excess heat is being generated.

3. Install away from heat. If this is not possible block the engine heat as much as possible by placing a heat shield (bubble wrap covered by aluminum foil) between the electrolyzer and the engine. Leave at least 1-2” air space around the electrolyzer.

A mounting bracket can be easily fashioned from copper and/or galvanized plumber’s strap. (Not supplied.) In other cases a small rubber pad (not supplied and usually not necessary) and/or two bungee cords (not supplied) may be adequate. Rarely there may be vehicles that do not have enough space in the engine compartment to mount the device.

A possible solution is to use the area in front of the radiator. Fasten the device to the car's frame or anything other the radiator, belts or moving parts, and make sure that it does not touch the radiator. That's it for the mechanical installation and location. Now let's move for connections and supply lines. The HHO Water4Gas device is operated by vacuum pressure from your vehicle’s engine, plus 12 Volt supply from your vehicle’s electrical system.

Vacuum and the HHO Generator
Vacuum lines are supplied from the engine to various car systems, and you should best use the system that gets the highest vacuum. The idea is to Suck the HHO into a place such as the Carburetor or the Intake Manifold, where it can be automatically mixed with the existing fuel/air mixture. Connect the output to the carb/intake manifold.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE BRAKES VACUUM LINE. This is usually a very thick black hose that connects between the engine and the Brake Vacuum Booster (usually a large drum on the firewall on the driver side): The PCV valve* line usually makes a good connection.

Vehicles with EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) should also be connected at or near the intake manifold. * Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, or PCV valve, is a one-way valve that ensures continual refreshment of the air inside a gasoline internal combustion engine's crankcase.

WARNING: DO NOT SHORTEN THE VACUUM LINE between the engine intake and the jar. Keep the line (hose) at least 4 ft long. This length must be kept to enhance safety and prevent damage to the device.

A universal vacuum line T-Connector is provided as well as a length of vacuum hose to make the connection. We also supply a 1/4" T because almost all applications can be done at the manifold with this "T". A wide range of vacuum fittings is readily available at any auto parts store (plastic fittings will do for this use). Note that the Universal Vacuum T-Connector is...well, universal. Its edges are usually too small for the hose, and should be trimmed (edge cut off) with a knife.

HHO Generator and the Electrical System
The HHO generator is designed to operate on 12 Volts. Refer to the wiring diagram below. If you’re not sure consult your auto mechanic (electric), or contact us for help.

1. Connect the black terminal of the device to the negative terminal of the vehicle’s battery, using the wire WITHOUT FUSE (black wire). If the battery is too far, connect it to the firewall or extend the wire all the way to the battery.

2. Identify a point in your vehicle’s electrical system which has a 12 Volts (positive) present ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS ON (Position 2 of the Ignition Switch), such as the starter solenoid, window wiper motor, or similar circuit.

3. Turn the switch off and take out the key. Connect positive (12 Volts) to the red terminal of the device, using the FUSED wire supplied (red), to the point you’ve identified above.

4. To protect the wiring from long term damage, you can now put the newly installed wires into what's called “split flex tubing”. You can find it in all major hardware stores such as Ace, Home Depot. Don't buy it online ($5 +S&H) because in the shop it's only 99 cents for 10 ft.

NOTES:In most newer vehicles the fuses are located in a box, in the engine compartment. I just plug the wire into the fuse holder and reinsert the fuse. Usually it is a 10 Amp or 15 Amp ignition circuit, that I use. In some older cars where there was no fuse box to connect to, the wiper motor was found most useful as a supply point. I just splice into the SWITCHED 12 Volts and it works well. ? In some cars the electrical system may be in reverse (RED wire to the body of the car, or to the battery itself). If it gets confusing, consult an auto electrician who is familiar with your specific model.

Final Steps of HHO Generator Setup.
Fill the jar with DISTILLED WATER, leaving 1” of free space at the top. Add 1/8 teaspoon of Electrolyte (pure Baking Soda) to the 32oz HHO Generator.

Close the jar. HHO Units should draw about 2 AMPS of power. More Baking Soda may be added but, make sure the units operate cool and don't overheat. Running the units too hot will create steam and that will cause a drop in mileage and engine performance.
Test Run Your HHO Generator
1. Start with NO electricity, by taking out the fuse or leaving one of the terminals disconnected (make sure it doesn't touch metal parts of the car to prevent fuse blowout).

2. Turn the Vacuum Adjustment Valve (sometimes called “Bubbler Cap” or just “Bubbler”) fully CLOCKWISE. Then turn it half-turn COUNTER-CLOCKWISE.

3. Turn the engine and watch the bubbling action coming out of the lower end of the thin tubing inside the device (here by the way is the great advantage of having a strong glass jar instead of metal or non clear plastic – total transparency and visibility!) Gradually turn the Vacuum Adjustment Valve and watch the bubbling action in the jar. Adjust the valve until there is a small amount of bubbling action.

4. Turn off the engine.

5. Connect the electricity by putting the fuse on and making sure all connections are tight (hand force only).

6. Start the engine again and watch the electrolyzing action between the spiral electrodes. A yellowish gas (HHO) will start forming and flow toward the top of the jar.

7. Within a short time (roughly 30 seconds), you will notice that the engine starts to sound quite differently. It will sound smoother and quieter. Its RPM may be unstable for a couple minutes. This is normal – the HHO is starting to change the combustion cycle and cancels the pinging – and the engine is now adjusting to the changes.

How Does a HHO System Work?

What is the HHO / Hydrogen on demand System doing under the hood of your vehicle?
To start, the HHO Generator converts H2O (water) into hydrogen, and oxygen, or HHO using a catalyst (baking soda),or other "electrolyte" added to plain old water
by putting an electrical charge to the water (your 12v battery).
The process of adding an electrical charge to water is called
electrolysis this breaks apart the water molecules, which puts them
back into their gaseous form of hydrogen and oxygen, we call this HHO gas or Hydroxy gas.
HHO gas is cleaner burning and much more powerful than gasoline.
While separating water from its original state into its gaseous form each gallon of water expands to create 1866 gallons of combustible gas! That’s why so
little water is consumed and yet you get to see the benefits you do.
When you fill your vehicle up at the pumps only 20% -30% of the gasoline you are putting into your vehicle is used to propel your vehicle. The rest of the 70% - 80% is being burned up or released as emissions.
This is bad for your wallet and bad for the environment, and this is what we are looking to change with these hho systems.
HHO gas causes fuel to ignite more slowly by lowering the temperature and allowing the pistons to get to a higher state before igniting the gasoline and pushing the pistons back down. This of course allows the pistons to transfer more energy during its ignition cycle, which equates to more fuel efficiency for you. So your vehicle isn’t exactly running on water.
Introducing the HHO gas to your vehicle makes your engine run more productively basically turning the gasoline you use into a higher octane fuel, which equates to better gas mileage for you.

Hi folks sorry I hav'nt posted recently we got stranded in the middle of the Arizonia desert while doing some experimenting with HHO and Solar. Talk about FREE energy (after start up cost).

I am getting so tired of people who have not done their home work on the subject of "burning water as fuel". Most people freak out and close their minds when you tell them you are getting a gas called HHO or browns gas out of a mason jar and burning it on demand in your car.

HHO generator for your car - IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE


Here's the simple math for "the experts" when they say we're attempting to violate the "Laws" of conservation of energy. Please feel free to use it to stuff it to them too.

1) The best I.C.E. is 18% efficient, 20% on a good day.
2) The process of brute force electrolysis today has been pushed to about 85% Faraday.

Note: Based on the caloric energy available from burning Hydrogen, by using Faraday's "Law" to translate from electrical energy it is estimated that 100% efficient hydrogen electrolysis is achieved by creating somewhere between 5.5-7.5 milliliters of gas per minute per watt of energy consumed. Members of our research group have run the numbers several ways which all seem to point to around 7.0 m/m/w or mmw for short. Many of our cells have operated as high as 6mmw or roughly 85% efficient

3) The product of electrolysis is HHO which has it's own energy value, up to 85% of what we put in.

If all we considered was the return of energy value when we inject the HHO as a supplement to gasoline, then yes; Conservation of energy applies.


HHO as an additive does more than return 80% of the energy we put in to create it. It's properties enhance the slow burning gasoline, speeding up the rate of combustion, causing much more of the total combustion process to be translated into mechanical energy rather than being lost as waste heat out the tail pipe, raising the efficiency of the total system. Returning to the simple math...

4) Let's say we're able to translate just 10% more of the total system energy to mechanical energy. We have still not violated conservation of energy, only raised the total system efficiency to 28%. But that's an increase of 55%!!! Now deduct the energy loss of 15% to create the HHO that made this possible and you still end up with a total net gain of 40%!

What you fail to understand is that in the late 70's-early 80's when carbs were in use there was not a map sensor, intake air temp sensor, O2 sensors or a ECU to change the AF ratios. The carb had adjustments for a single AF ratio. So why is it that they put all of those sensors on our vehicles????. That's keep you from getting better Fuel Economy. Didn't they tell us that all those sensors were to help us improve FE. All that crap keeps us from improving FE and increases our maintenance bill to get all of it worked on....force us to take it to them. It is all about money flow to them and us not getting great FE.
Here is a simple analogy.. In 1924 the Model T ford was being mass produced and the vehicle got 24 MPG. The average vehicle on the road in 2007 gets 25 MPG...
On the other hand do you remember the telephone in the 1930's???? Black rotary dial piece of junk, right? In 2008 the cell phones are some of the most sophisticated devices known to man. 84 years they can't do anything on a mass scale for FE. Give me a break!!!!! FE is clearly suppressed. In 1954 a guy named Henry Pogue had a modified carb that got 94 MPG and 100 MPG. There are over 200 patents for vehicles that get over 100 MPG. Where are these patents??? I am glad you asked The patents are owned by Ford, Chrysler, GM, Exxon/Mobil, Texaco and BP. They purchase the patents from the original inventor and "shelf the patent" It is being done on purpose. If you can't see that for yourself then ask yourself how great of a company you would be if you never improved your product for economy??? The average company would be shut down. In this case we have big oil, g0vt and the auto manufacturers all working together on this one. It is all about control. Plastics and rubber products are derived threw oil. Pharmaceuticals are an oil derivative. Now if you can control the oil then you can control the entire world. They have controlled the media(TV, Newspapers, magazines since the early 1930's) And you thought that just because the g0vt is the authority that they are telling the truth. That is it for my rant today. It is all being done by design.

Answer is ---- By moving the sensor further away from the exhaust it runs cooler - therefor leaning the mixture. Simple huh

Anyone that has been studying HHO gas and Hydrogen on demand systems knows that this is not new technology. But do you stop and think about WHY? this simple but very effective method of conserving fuel has been so long coming.

Ozzie Freedom of water4gas has started a quite revolution and a lot of people are saving huge amounts of money they would have spent on gasoline by installing simple Hydrogen on demand systems built by the "average Joe" in there own garage.

"BIG OIL" money can't stop this HHO train now so you can certainly expect to see oil companies and government figuring a way to get a piece of the pie before it goes too far.

We have been using "water as gas" for quite a while now so we thought we would give you a quick overview on how to build a hydrogen generator to turn your car into a water burning hybrid. It can be done for less than $100 if you assemble and install your hydrogen on demand system your self

First and foremost you need a good quality guide to ensure you build the hydrogen generator safely. The technology to use water as gas is quite simple but you must use common sense and do it correctly. You will find many guides now a lot cheaper than theirs, but they are all or most, copies or "re-writes" of their material.

A water burning hybrid does not produce pure hydrogen gas it produces HHO gas (hydroxy) through electrolysis. By applying a small amount of current from your car's battery through a set of electrodes submersed in a container of water you will be producing hho or Brown's Gas. It really is that simple. The goal here is to create a gas that requires very little energy to produce yet burns efficiently and cleanly and increase fuel mileage when added to the gas or diesel you already use.

The gas you create (2x hydrogen & 1x oxygen) is then injected into the engines intake as a supplement to the gas you already use and the resulting mixture burns much more readily than regular gas or diesel alone. This increase gas mileage by as much as 50% or more.

Can Water Really Be Used To Run A Car?

This technology was originally discovered by Nicola Tesla who found out that hydrogen can be extracted from water to produce energy. However this discovery was never publicized due to political pressure. Some countries today rely on oil sales as their only national income source thus many countries will be heavily affected if everyone started running their cars on water.

I had to stop right in the middle of building on my HHo website to let you guys in on some thing : HHO - BROWNS GAS - HYDROXY - HYDROGEN ON DEMAND SYSTEMS do work to cut fuel consumption and burning HHO as a supplement to gas or diesel in the vehicle you now own does help to clean up our air because Hydrogen or in this case (hydroxy) gas burns much hotter.
I am not writing this blog to try to convince you of these facts. I just want to let you know there is popping up all over the Internet sites and ads that are " too good to be true" ( marked down from $299 to $47 ) that's silly.
I know what it cost in material alone to make a GOOD SYSTEM and some of these guys are trying to make a fast buck off you and they will take your money and run.

HHO Generators

HHO generators use the electrolysis of water to crack the liquid into its gaseous state. HHO generators start with H2O (water) and create a gas called Oxyhydrogen, which is two atoms of hydrogen to one atom of oxygen.

Although HHO generators that are used for cars and other vehicles are the ones that we direct our focus on. HHO generators have been used in hospitals and have been used for torches for some time now. This alone should be enough to convince the average joe that this technology is sound.

But, the HHO generators of interest to car owners are the ones that fit under the hood and create supplemental hydrogen and oxygen (HHO)that is injected into the vehicle's intake or carburetor.

HHO generators and the rest of a good Hydrogen on demand system help a vehicle burn gas more complete so there for creating less harmful deposits than when running gasoline or diesel fuel alone. Recently I got An email from a guy who definitely believes HHO is a scam so I thought you might want to hear is rantings :

They're all scams. Any idea that involves putting in energy to take that same energy back out is going to be a losing proposition. If you do it perfectly, you get out all the energy put in. How is that supposed to help you?
It shouldn't take a genius to see that however much energy you put in is going to be, at best, how much energy you get out. Otherwise, you're just magically getting energy from nowhere.
We like to present to you both sides of the story although we strongly lean toward the fact that as an added system Hydrogen on demand (HHO) will improve your mileage by boosting the burn rate of the gasoline because it burns hotter. after combustion the byproduct (water) helps cool the cylinders and exits the exhaust.
It does take more energy to separate the molecular structure of H2O than is given back when the separated Hydrogen combusts. HOWEVER, as a hybrid in your automobile - your gasoline also contributes to the combustion and provides the "extra energy" needed for the electrolysis. Either way, many of us are doubling -even tripling our gas mileage. So it does work.

A friend installed this gizmo in my truck two months ago. After 30 seconds first start I noticed that the engine became soooo quiet. At first I thought the RPM went down because of the water, but no, the device has definitely changed the way my engine works - it does not ping anymore!

my 2007 Dodge 4.7 v8 Multi fuel got a 5 mile per gallon boost so far which is about 25%...Hope to see another 10% or more. Still tweaking the system.

Well I was wrong on the Mileage. At 40MPH I got 26.5 MPG which is 77% higher than the manufactures listed 15 MPG Sticker. Still tweaking the system and hope to break the 30 MPG barrier soon.

Supplemental hydrogen and how it can work for you


With the negative changes in the economy and rapid increase of gasoline prices the use of a supplemental hydrogen system in your vehicle can greatly increase the fuel economy. Other benefits of using such a system include an increase in horsepower and a great reduction in harmful pollutants and emissions that damage our environment and shorten the life of your engine.

WHY does it work?

A supplemental hydrogen system is just that, supplemental to the use of gasoline in your vehicle. Use of a system is not an attempt to run your vehicle on hydroxy gas exclusively. Instead, it is a way to more efficiently burn the gasoline that you are already using. How? By more fully atomizing the gasoline molecules and burning them as a vapor instead of the larger droplets they would normally be.

You’re probably wondering why the combustion process wouldn’t already be efficient since it was designed by top engineers at auto manufacturers, and why supplemental hydrogen isn’t incorporated into our vehicles today. The answer is found in a question…When a new vehicle is designed, who is it designed for? EVERYONE. When new cars are made, they have to be marketable not just on the basis of fuel economy, but also on the basis of horsepower, torque, and user intervention. So you might be seeking the highest MPG rating while someone else will see horsepower as a major buying factor. Even the person seeking highest MPG might not purchase a supplemental hydrogen vehicle if he/she would have to regularly check and refill not only the gasoline but also the water and electrolyte used to produce the hydroxy gas. This is where user intervention becomes a factor. You see? Every car design is a COMPROMISE. It has to be marketable to a large demographic of drivers.

So, by using a supplemental hydrogen system we are simply taking a vehicle that’s compromised and inefficient and bringing it up to a higher level of efficient combustion. This benefit can then be directed to either increased horsepower or better fuel economy, based on the user’s preference.

How does it work?

A supplemental hydrogen system consists of a fuel pre-heater assembly, an electrolyzer, and an ECU (vehicle computer) compensation method. When the system is used with fuel additives such as xylene and acetone, along with positive driving habits, it can produce dramatic results in fuel economy, sometimes over 50%. Horsepower is also drastically increased if the air/fuel ratio is not modified, because hydroxy gas is very combustable, much like nitrous oxide used in racing cars.

Fuel Pre-heater: A fuel preheater is a simple device, usually assembled of a heat conducting metal such as brass, copper, nickel or aluminum. It is placed on the radiator hose of the vehicle and wrapped in a thermal blanket. It uses otherwise wasted heat to preheat the gasoline before it reaches the fuel injection manifold or carburetor. This helps expand the dense gasoline molecules, making them closer to full vaporization temperature by the time the fuel reaches the combustion chamber.

Electrolyzer: This is the heart of the system. An electrolyzer uses the process of electrolysis to change water into hydroxy gas. (hydrogen and oxygen gas) It consists of electrodes that produce hydroxy gas when submerged in water made conductive with electrolyte, such as potassium hydroxide. Electrical current from the vehicle’s battery is then applied. A substancial amount of hydroxy gas must be produced by an electrolyzer to make the combustion process more efficient. The standard of gas production is measured in liters per minute. (LPM) 1 LPM is considered baseline for a functional supplemental hydrogen electrolyzer. The hydroxy gas output of the electrolyzer is routed to the vehicle’s air intake and vacuum intake manifold. The smaller molecules of the hydroxy gas strike the larger pre-heated gasoline molecules, breaking down the covalent bonds even further and atomizing the gasoline, while adding a combustable catalyst.

ECU Compensation method: If an electrolyzer is used in a vehicle and nothing more is installed, little or no gains in combustion efficiency/MPG will be seen. This is because the ECU of the vehicle will detect more oxygen in the exhaust via the oxygen sensors. More oxygen in the exhaust usually tells the ECU your vehicle the fuel mixture is running lean, with too much air being mixed into it via the air intake. It then compensates by adding more gasoline to the mixture, and reducing the air induction, which defeats the gains of the supplemental hydrogen system. The combustion of hydroxy gas produces a large increase in oxygen in the exhaust, therefore to see gains you must compensate for this. Compensation methods currently being employed are:

1.E.F.I.E. electronic fuel injection enhancer: This device manipulates the voltages relayed to the ECU via the oxygen sensors. By telling the ECU the fuel mixture is rich, it will tell the fuel injectors to inject less gasoline and use more hydroxy. It can be purchased online by numerous retailers, or you can build your own.

2.MAP/MAF sensor enhancer: this device manipulates the voltages being sent to the ECU from the MAP or MAF sensor, effectively controlling the air/fuel ratio.

3.Oxygen sensor offset sleeves/wrapping in aluminum foil. These 2 methods of O2 sensor tweaking effectively reduce some of the sensor’s ability to detect oxygen, effectively leaning the air/fuel ratio.

Fuel Additives: Acetone and Xylene additives have been proven to increase fuel economy by breaking down the covalent bonds of the gasoline molecules, making them easier to atomize and ignite in the combustion process.

Emission/pollution reduction

Emissions and air pollution from your vehicle are greatly reduced while using supplemental hydrogen because more of your gasoline is being completely used up and not being burned in your catalytic converter. The biproduct of burning hydroxy gas is heated water vapor, which steam cleans the inside of your engine and removes damaging carbon build ups and performance robbing sludge. Using a supplemental hydrogen system helps the environment twice by decreasing fuel dependency while also reducing pollutants.


By using a properly installed supplemental hydrogen system the user and the environment will greatly benefit. All that’s needed is a small amount of user intervention by refilling the water and electrolyte of the electrolyzer based on individual use. If more people would employ this system we could effectively reduce dependency on foreign oil, while also preventing damage to our environment. We have been studying this subject for some time now and do have two working prototypes thanks to water4gas . Long before we installed these systems on our vehicles we did a lot of experimentation that convinced us that hydrogen or HHO (oxyhdrogen) was not that hard to produce. Almost anyone can create a few bubbles in a quart jar but you do need all the parts and working knowledge it takes to apply this simple technology to your auto.
After searching the Internet for "kits" that claim to produce Hydrogen on demand we went with water4gas because of their long term good reputation and the fact that they don't make claims of wild 70% - 80% unheard of (and unproven) gains in mileage per gallon of gas. Through our extensive research and experimentation we know these types of gains are something for the future, if it sounds too good to be true it is too good to be true.
All this being said, we do know for a fact that with the right hydrogen on demand "kit" installed correctly to your car or truck and some gas saving knowledge you will gain substantially.
